A DIVE INTO THE JAWS OF A GLIMPSE
IT ALL LOOKS FUNNY FROM A DISTANCE
~~~~~
Is the miracle of listening
that leans the body on passing clouds,
dissolving the listener and the listened into a sweet embrace.
No words necessary,
thought lulls itself into a deep sleep.
In the cracks of soundless sounds
something fresh takes place, something
curious, the heart leans closer to touch the wind,
the flapping wings of a hummingbird eavesdropping.
The habitual
ways of listening have caught fire.
The body rises to meet its ashes,
the soft, gray-black particles, the sweet embrace that is
a trance of listening in which every cell gives its complete attention
suspending the body from the softness of the mouth,
vibrating vividly like the flapping wings of the indiscreet hummingbird.
It all looks funny from a distance –
bearing witness to this dance of union, to this miracle of listening.
Feeling cheated, words elbowed thought out of its nap
“There is something funny here.”
